I'm considering building a socket A retro gaming PC. I'm well aware of the problem with powering it. I don't have a PSU from the time, seeing as I was a kid and bought several crap PSUs until I learnt my lesson. Even when I thought I was buying quality, I was really buying crap (seriously, fuck you Antec). The best PSU I do have is the Seasonic 520W M12II in my main rig, which I believe will do up to 130W on the 5V rail. That's probably not enough for high end socket A.
I'd be looking at a high end Athlon XP, probably a Barton, some high power card like a Radeon 9700 Pro, a couple of PCI cards, an optical drive and a disk or two. Probably a bit much for 130W, but there's many PSUs that give you much more than that these days, even if you go up to stupid 1000W units. I figure an older PSU from the time probably makes more sense, but I'm not really sure what was good, and especially what hasn't turned out to be shit in hindsight. Something modular, or at least semi modular would be a big plus too.
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
